An end to your wi-fi pain is in sight: The router that does all the config work itself is almost here
http://www.zdnet.com/article/an-end-to-your-wi-fi-pain-is-in-sight-the-router-that-does-all-the-config-work-itself-is-almost-here/
"It's possible to do a lot of the adjustments we do in the router manually yourself, but then you're a more advanced than average user. Our contribution is to do these adjustments automatically and dynamically when needed, and for every user who uses our solution," Bent Erik Skaug, one of those co-founders, said in the article.

That's true. Wireless routers have not advanced with the rest of the technology that utilize them. Smart phones, tablets, home security systems, printers and notebooks and laptops, just to name a few. So I would love to see what they have in store for this.

Interesting, though I still have a hard time trusting anything to make decisions for me...

I know what you mean. But then look again at all the not so tech savy people out there that can't even program the clock on a DVD player? I can only imagine the look of confusion on their faces when they are trying to setup a wifi router for their x-box. LoL. So it's in that respect, that I can see great potential here.

Ya but people NEED to start learning this crap or we get more crap like what we see Microsoft doing with Windows 10 doing everything for us. Sorry but I like to be able to customize things my way
I mean I think this is cool but I like it to be an option

I would assume that it will still have an advanced mode so you can configure it to your personal likings. It's like that now with mobo overclocking. You can use automatic mode or advanced mode.

There was a time when you had to know nearly everything about cars/trucks to keep one running (because there really weren't many mechanics around, and they were expensive). Go forward a few decades and the norm was that you could change the oil or a tire (though lube shops were poping up to do it for you, for a price). Now, with the electronics required, and how cheap it is to get an oil change, working on your own cars is a rich mans game.
So, will there come a time when there really isn't a need for an advanced mode that is accessable by all, because configuring your own network will be the passtime of the rich only?
What are the implications of such a world?
Sorry, I guess I am philisophical tonight....ignore my mumblings and carry on with your business...

You may have had a point where it comes to working on your own car, if you weren't so widely misinformed. I don't want to go crazy with going off topic here but feel free to start up a new topic on that subject and I am sure I could vastly enlighten your mind.
Jumping back on topic....
I don't think they will ever remove the advanced mode options, simply because there are so many performance enthusiasts and tech savy people out there, that are willing and / or capable of configuring their own systems. But when it comes down to new features, such as this auto config option for example. This is where the costs will be higher. At least, at first anyway. But that's how it's always been.
