PC shares the same cons:

Windows Users cannot play with Mac users in most cases I have run into nor can they play with console users despite being on the same game.

Storage Space is always limited, out of the box my 360 had 250 Gb of space, almost as much as my laptop.

Games are still only playable on the platform it was designed for. I cannot run console games or mac games on my laptop for instance.

As for limited support I find I get the same amount of support if not more for my 360 than I do my laptop and PCs I have had in the past.

I had to fork out 90 bucks to ship my tower to it's manufacturer UNDER warranty for repairs and they didn't even fix it. I had to fork out a second 90 bucks to send it back again.... only to have it break again 2 weeks later.

As you said PC is obsolete before you open the box. Console is good to go until a new generation is made. With this past console gen that was 10 years. Any computer that old is nothing more than an over-sized doorstop. Anything in the PC world brand new that will last half that long with guaranteed performance will cost you 10 times the price.

Pro's of PC gaming.... full backwards compatibility. Using DOSBox you can even play DOS games.
Larger game library: most MMO's are PC exclusive.

In Theory larger pool of gamers to choose from for multiplayer.

Modding Community, nuff said.

And I am aware you can build your own rig for cheaper and have it run decently well, I was reading an article on how to build a gaming PC for the price of a PS4 but the article even admitted that the PC would still be less powerful than the PS4 and would be rubbish at everything but gaming.

Makes you wonder what kind of monsters developers are using to design and build games these days.

There are a rare few games that are cross platform compatible.  But like I said, very few.

There are emulators for just about any OS, so you can play games that were meant for other systems.  Example:  You can play PS3 games on PC with an emulator.

And umm, the xbox360 only had a 6 or 7 year run.  That's very impressive considering that it was already outdated hardware upon it's release.   But I guess it's real easy to make games playable for one particular hardware setup.  I had a PC last about that long until I had to replace it.  And that's only because the processor no longer had enough power to run the new games that I wanted to play.  So yeah, I planed on running past 4 years so I got the best hardware that $1000 can get.  It's cheaper in the long run vs upgrading something major every year.

When it comes to PC's though, there is always newer, better hardware coming out every month.  Sometimes even every week.  So game designers are always busy with finding ways to push the limits of cutting edge technology.  And then have to find ways to make these new games combatable with mainstream hardware.  The last computer I built is over 4 years old now and it's still able to play whatever I want.  But I don't see that lasting to much longer.

360 was released Nov 22nd 2005, support will be continued till 2016. Even if you only count till release of next gen that is 8 years.

That's how I was counting.  The release of the new spells the end of the old.  But I thought the x1 came out in 2012?  Okay, your right.  Release date was 11-13.  But still.  8 year run and it was 2004 cutting edge technology in the 360 at the time of it's release.  That's very impressive considering that is essentially a purpose built, desktop computer in there.

Also impressive that it runs games my laptop cannot even touch like L4D2. Diablo runs better on it too.

Well, you have to keep in mind too, that games written for a gaming console, were made to take full advantage of that particular hardware.  There is no guess work involved like what you might see on the vast variety of PC platforms out there.  That is a serious pro for the console, and a con too.  And I will explain why.

The pro is just as I said earlier.  Any game written to play on a console, are guaranteed to run smoothly.
The con is, as the console gets older and newer games come out, the console version will be stripped down as compared to it's PC counterpart.

For example.  Games written for both the 360 and X1 consoles, the 360 version won't have the same environmental emersion and luster that you see on the newer platform.  But at least you don't need to upgrade the console.  They just dial the game down for you, so you can play it.

My PC has to dial back all the games anyway so I don't mind the dialed back versions.

On a semi related note: is anyone familiar with CPU Solutions? They have a really nice looking Gaming PC on Amazon for under 900 bucks, but only 5 reviews of it.

I'm personally not familiar with them so I don't have a valid opinion on their systems.  But, looking over the specs, I can see that it's leaps and bounds above anything you got now, that's for sure.  But as far as it being a "gaming" class rig in today's market, that's yet to be seen.

I wouldn't say no to a L4D reunion game, but I am afraid that I do not play much of anything anymore.  I do still have L4D 1 and 2 installed, but it has been so long since I played either one that Steam doesn't remember the last time I played ;D
I must have deleted NS, because it isn't in my games list anymore
Steam gets turned on occasionally so I can play Company of Heroes or Dawn of War 2 (skrimage against the computer), and my son still likes to play Need for Speed sometimes (he is 4, so it is basically just bumper cars for him).  I bought Wargame: European Escalation a few months back, but I can't figure out how to get it going...
I play SWTOR and/or STO about once or twice a month, but that is just because I am a complete Star Trek/Star Wars nerd and I can't resist.  I really suck at both games lol.
I had never even heard of 7 Days to Die until you mentioned it.  Looks a lot like DayZ.  Both games look sweet but are more than my computer can handle.

Well, I always felt the 7 days to die had a lot in common with minecraft, just better looking.

But lately I have been really into SpinTires.  So much so that I even tried my hand at modding for it.  The general community liked my concept enough that it's now an officially approved mod for spintires.  It's called Swamp Monsters.

Congrats Sand. That seems right up your alley as you have always been a modder of games. :)

As for Steam it seems I cannot launch it. I usually don't have Steam on anymore as the games I play lately do not need it to be on.

I am currently getting this error which when I hit ok either hangs or crashes...
