Dawid Does Tech Stuff (Youtuber)
« on: November 25, 2022, 05:09:34 pm »
This guy does some interesting YouTube videos and I got into watching him. He reminds me a lot of my friend Dave (OneEyed) in looks (not accent though) and love of computer tech.

I have one of these cases. I'm thinking of putting it back into service. mine is blue though.

That case was certainly ahead of the game when it comes to modularity and airflow.  But agreed that noise and dust will be problem factor.  And yet, cable management aesthetics don't exist in this case.  Pretty cool case overall though.  I'd love to do a somewhat authentic to it's time, water cooled build in it.

Funny how he did a flashback to another case of that era when he was talking about adding ten HDD's to a system.  LOL.  That was the Cooler Master HAF-X case.  The exact same case I still have sitting on my shelf.

I'm thinking of doing mine up with a few 3-5 ARGB fans to go with an am4 Ryzen system I'm putting together. Most difficult thing is finding someone to part with one. I got mine for $50 bucks a good number of years back. These days, not exactly going cheap, maybe youi could get lucky on facebook market place like I did on Kijiji.

Where I did like the freaky look of that case, I really don't have a burning desire to go out and get one.

Besides, my HAF-X case has those same butt holes in the back for "water cooling".  And I actually did use them.  The rear fan placement can take a 120mm or a 140mm fan.  It comes with a 140mm fan by default.  So, I removed the rear fan and installed a EKWB FLT 120 pump/res combo to the outside of the rear fan mount.  It uses the 120mm fan mounting holes.  Then installed a Phanteks Glacier D140 distro plate to the inside of the rear fan mount.  It uses the 140mm fan mounting holes.  It's said that the HAF-X case can take a 240mm radiator on the top.  But you can fit a 360mm radiator, no problem.  Only you lose access to the top two 5 1/4 drive bays.

I think the case was made more in mind of the airflow fanatic, rather than for water cooling. Probably why it doesn't grab your interest as much.
