 Technically, I'm not sure if it even came close. might have hit somewhere miles away behind the base. if it actually hit there. pretty sure we'd have seen the flash from the impact. plus wouldn't the copper figure make a better conducter than the concrete base?

It does look like the lightning strike hit far behind liberty island.  Not the statue it self.
