Hi everyone.
Having trouble getting NS1 working. Is there a tutorial somewhere to help me get it running?

Well, the good news is that the launcher at https://github.com/ENSL/NS#downloads works for Windows 10 (at least it does today).
I doubt anyone else in the world is looking for this info in 2021, but, here it is, just in case.
And, thank you Sandman, for keeping the servers running all these years. My son is now old enough to start playing this sort of thing, and I figure I better give him a classical education!

Seems a lot of people have been having strange issues getting NS1 running. I remember back in the day, there was a notice that you had to startup and run HL1 BEFORE launching NS1. Basically, just run the HL1 training mission. You don't even need to complete it, just start it up and it will install the files NS1 needs to run.

I remembered that (to start HL1 first) and did it. Have no idea if it is still required or not.
I feel more like a dinosaur every day.

It was common practice to start HL1 and at least load up the training mission before running any HL1 mods. That's if you've not played HL1 on that setup yet. Modded games run off of the HL1 core files, so they need to be unpacked in order for the mods to run.

I know what you mean about feeling like a dinosaur. Trying to remember things from back in the pre-steam days ... I am like wow I am old lol.

Ah yes I forgot about that ..
